My week with the new CosRx BHA Overnight Mask
Way back when this product was called the Blackhead Power Cream and contained a much more simple ingredient list. Cosrx went back to the drawing board and loaded it up with some new and improved ingredients!
First is .9% BHA or Beta Hydroxy Acid. This gnarly acid helps regular sebum production (dry and oily alike!) as well as offering mild exfoliation. This overnight mask is also based with 50% Centella Water instead of regular water to provide an extra soothing/anti inflammatory effect. On top of these you’ll find B vitamins Niacinamide and Panthenol to help with maintaining hydration and renewing skin cells. Also Lactic Acid and PHA (gluconolactone) for further exfoliation.
How Does it Feel?
The overnight mask is a thick balmy-cream that doesn’t apply the easiest. This has to be my biggest complaint about it! It makes a great occlusive moisturizing product but I found myself adding a drop or two of oil to make it apply easier. Is this a deal breaker? Hell no! I love the fact it’s as thick as it is. It’s an overnight mask and I expect it to prevent TEWL.
The times I was using it during the day was usually when I was adding oil to make it apply thinner. Yes, this can be worn during the day but recommended to wear SPF 30+! It has a relaxing tea tree scent that’s quite enjoyable and dissipates fast.
This sleeping mask is a winner for me! It’s texture takes some getting used to, but over a week I’ve noticed my skin isn’t as dry when I wake up. I also don’t feel like I need to scrub my nose after just one day! So I can see this cutting my regular exfoliation down some, but it’s too soon to say!
Thank you to Cupidrop and Cosrx for providing this in exchange for my review, and for throwing in the lovely Low pH Barrier Mist as well! It has a great nozzle and is a great refresher.
